Mondoshawans

I'm not sure if this ship is the work of Moebius, Jean-Claude Mezieres, +Sylvain Despretz, or someone else, but to me it's always been a pinnacle example of sci-fi "biodesign" done right, whereas most is horrible. What makes the achievement remarkable is how fine the line between good and bad is when it comes to this look/style. I saw a film last summer that was chock full of remarkably similar designs, but it all looked completely silly and left no lasting impression. There was no depth.

Super Mario 3D Land

I couldn't sleep last night, so I took my 3DS to the other room and played 3D Land in the dark for a couple hours. Finally achieved 100% completion, but I don't want it to be over. I'm going to go ahead and call it the greatest three-dimensional Mario game ever. Just about as close to perfection as they come. Superb.

Tall Corridor

+Star Wars indicates that this Ralph McQuarrie painting is indeed Star Wars concept art. It's always driven me crazy because it's so awesome but I have no idea what scrapped scene it's supposed to be depicting. Perhaps the walk to the Emperor's lava cave throne room?
